About Us
The Alliance is a network of health organizations
and professional individuals that have joined together to provide our community comprehensive
information on health issues. The Alliance was established to facilitate the collection, analysis,
dissemination and
access to information concerning minority health issues
and to address and help reduce the disparities of health issues for
the underserved, under-represented populations in Cuyahoga County by using
multi-cultural and culturally-competent approaches to enhance the ways in
which health services are designed and delivered.
The
Minority Health Alliance is committed to promoting health, preventing
disease, providing resources and referral services, and increasing awareness
about health and wellness issues among
minority populations.
The
purpose of this Alliance is furtherance of the following objectives:
1. To
organize and host one signature event a year and assist other member
organizations with other events.
2. To
encourage minorities to participate in health screenings.
3. To
increase community awareness of the mortality and morbidity of diabetes,
cancer, heart disease, hypertension, HIV/AIDS, and STDs and other chronic
diseases that disproportionately affect minority populations.
4. To
disseminate pertinent health information.
